The Mechanic

This month’s post is dedicated to “The Mechanic”, no not the 2011 Jason Statham movie but Fran Mullen of Wilde Transport Services. Fran is one of those rare auto mechanics who is reliable, honest and always happy to help, he was there to give us a hand when we were building our campervan and more recently helped us in passing him on to his new owner – thank you Fran, we couldn’t have done our travelling without your help.

Yes, our wonderful campervan has now been sold on and we have a newer vehicle to help us get around the country on our dog sitting adventures. We have gone back to an estate car that has a large boot capacity and a big enough engine to shift all our gear around. It’s still very new to us and we are still working out what all the buttons, knobs and stalks do. Fingers crossed it will serve us well for many years to come.

As June is my birthday month we were invited to visit our friends in Sparkford for a few days of overcast rainy weather, culminating in a lovely but very very wet day trip to Weymouth. It was nice to see them again, and of course Bonnie, and we’re back in October for a couple of days before our dog sit in Castle Carey, Somerset.

We then had our 9th dog sitting visit to Gaddesby for Ken and Wolfie. We always have a relaxing and peaceful time in Gaddesby but with Ken being so young, this latest visit was a little more focussed on keeping an eye on an energetic and mischievous puppy.

The end of June was spent back in Cheshire for the obligatory dental appointments and restocking supplies, however the main reason was to organise house moving for Uncle Ken. A small team of workers descended on St. Helens and packed all his belongings into 2 large vehicles and deposited him over the border in Cheshire. We hope Ken enjoys his new home and the plethora of visitors he will receive with being closer to the family.

We are starting July back in Oundle dog sitting Jester & Gemma, we have 4 dog sits this month so we will be zipping up and down the country from Oundle, Northamptonshire to Berden, Essex to Chapel Allerton, West Yorkshire and then down to Bodiam, East Sussex.

Yes, huge thanks to Fran, you’ve been a star and we really appreciate all the help you’ve given us over the years 👍

We have some lovely memories of our time in the campervan especially with our little girl Treacle 🥰 but nothing stays the same forever, so we adapt with the changes and so far the Estate is doing everything we need it to 😄

June was quite a hectic month with one thing or another, culminating in the big move for Uncle Ken which went really well thanks to Joyce’s organisation and the muscle of numerous Howarth men 😉😂 – well done lads.

Now to enjoy some downtime with lovely Jester and Gemma in beautiful sunny Oundle 😎

Awww I’m going to miss that van, I remember looking round it when you first got it and seeing the adjustments you done inside.

With the news of an estate being the replacement, does this mean Netties Taxis are back in business? 😂😂

Well you never know, there’s certainly more chance of me driving the estate than the van because now I can actually reach the pedals 🤣😂🤣😂
