Bodiam Castle

Stephen Howarth, August 12, 2025August 12, 2025

Mid August and another heat wave, this time we are down in Melksham, Wilshire with scorching temperatures around 30°C which is far too hot for little Bear. Early morning and late evening walks are the order of the day here to look after the cheeky chappie.

The last month has seen us mixing a number of new dog sits and a couple of favourite resits. A rare city sit had us looking after Reggie in Leeds before retreating back to our preferred rural countryside sits where we met the most gentle and sweet Whippet Frankie in a very isolated Berden.

A beautiful Oast house sit in Bodiam with acres of open fields had us enjoying the company of Dudley & Ruby, a lovely quiet sit where we got the chance to visit Bodiam Castle for a day trip. It was so nice to see Ruby the Labrador running through the fields and having a great time.

Meeting all these new dogs and their owners and having the opportunity to visit so many interesting places is a big part of why we do what we do. July and August have been another great example of this and we are humbled to have been invited back to sit for all the dogs we cared for over this period.

We have a more relaxing end to August along with a highly anticipated day trip included, more details in the September post which I will try and get out a little earlier in the month.

I’m not in the least bit surprised you’ve been invited back to care for all the dogs again. If I’d have anybody look after a dog of mine, it would be Stevie and Nettie!!

Cheers mate for the vote of confidence, after all you did write one of our references for dog sitting 🙂

Blinking ‘eck it’s warm! poor little bear with his fur coat on, he does have a very good way of dealing with the heat though… eat, sleep, sleep, drink, eat, drink a bit more and then lots more sleeping 😂🥰 he’s got the right idea if you ask me 👍

We’ve been very spoilt over the last few weeks with so many adorable dogs and beautiful homes with gorgeous scenery right on the doorstep and of course the lovely weather 😎
