Wrinkly Ramblers

not all those who wander are lost

For the love of dogs

Stephen Howarth, May 25, 2023May 26, 2023

I think we may have stumbled upon our vocation with house/pet sitting. Our original plan for 2023 was to travel the UK visiting some of the interesting places we hadn’t yet seen, and revisiting some of our favourites. House/pet sitting was something we thought would occasionally help us meet new people and take us to places we wouldn’t normally have planned to visit.

As it turns out we absolutely love house/pet sitting and spending time with adorable furballs across the UK. Any downtime spent with the pets also enables us to check the local area for points of interest to visit after the sit. We’ve also met some great pet owners along the way and booked a few sits for later in the year, I am not going to bang on about it too much, suffice to say a big thank you to Frankie, Ted, Wolfie, Tess, Lilly, Flash, Barney, Molly, Jester, Gemma, Paco, Dexter, Libby and finally Lizzie (the cat) and all the pet parents who have trusted us to look after all that is dear to them.

To finish off the month of May we are taking a trip to The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway to see the world famous 60103 Flying Scotsman as part of the 100 years celebrations. We are then passing by Annette’s parents for a short visit before finishing in York where we are meeting up with some old friends to bore them all with our tales of adventure and travel – sorry in advance guys!

I have finally added a key to our travel map and we also plan to venture much further south as the winter months draw in. This will give us a chance to catch up with Ruth, John, Paul, Anne, Mick and all the extended family – we look forward to see you all after such a long time.

Feeling very fortunate to be able to combine traveling with house/pet sitting, very much enjoying life 😄

As Stephen said a big thank you to all the gorgeous cuddly pets and to their kind, generous owners.

Mega pleased the pet sitting has taken off for you both. I think it’s definitely down to my profile about you both!!!

Looking forward to comparing places when we have a Brummie catchup next month…some great places I’d love to go back to without the time constraints of a coach load of passengers!

So happy that all is going well for you both.

After Keighley, there’s always the National Railway Museum in York … 🙂

Keep well whatever you get up to.

We’ve done the museum before but you never know, although we’ve just heard from one of Annette’s old colleagues (steam train enthusiast) about the best places to see 60103 on Monday.
