Witch Way Now?

Witch way now? – well unfortunately the correct answer to that is ‘the UK’ as we have finally reached the end of our epic American Adventure, however before we finish this exciting chapter we still have time to tell you about our last week before we summarise what we have learnt about our cousins across the pond.

Our last week started with a few days relaxing and enjoying the lakeside in Burlington, VT. New England, a small leisure orientated town where fun on the water is the order of the day. We must admit that so long away from dogs is hard for us but luckily we bumped into Mr Jelly, a super cute Corgi therapy dog and managed a quick cuddle – we’re really looking forward to getting back to our regular dog sitting.

On our way back to Boston we couldn’t miss the opportunity to go back to New York City to see how it had changed since we were last there. A new Hudson regeneration area has recently sprung up but it is really just an excuse to simply expand more of the city. We did get to see the Naked Cowboy in Times Square and there was a large green dragon draped around the top of the Empire State building to celebrate the new House of the Dragon TV series.

Our final stop was Boston where we based ourselves for the last few days. We had a great day out at the Science Museum and a busy day exploring the city but by far the best trip we did was to Salem for an extraordinarily good walking tour. We learnt so much detail about the Salem Witch Trials and visited some key locations to the story along the way.

Having spent so much time in the USA visiting so many different states and territories we have learnt so much about the American lifestyle and their culture and language. We found out that ‘sandwich’ means ‘something with cheese on it’ and learnt many new words like wader (something to drink), budder (goes on your toast), even bedder we learnt to count to thirdy and lots of other liddle phrases.

Our flight back is tomorrow so this really is the end of the adventure but we already have lots of interesting trips and dog sits arranged for the rest of the year. We even have halve a dozen dog sits already booked for 2025.

We hope you enjoyed our updates during our travels and I promise to go back to monthly updates now and leave you in peace for a while – thanks for following and sharing in our adventures!

Well it’s been such an amazing trip Babes, we were fortunate enough to see everything we hoped we would and so much more 😊

Relaxing walks by Lake Champlain in Burlington were just what we needed after so many busy weeks and Mr Jelly was such a sweetie. The lakeside swing benches were a great idea for relaxing and watching the world go by, especially while eating an ice cream in the sun 🌞

I’ve enjoyed our time in Boston, Salem was very interesting and great weather for the walking tour, but I really enjoyed the science museum and seeing Spot the Boston Dynamics dog, he was so cool.

I’m looking forward to returning to “blighty” not only for the numerous doggy cuddles we have coming up but also to have some proper food – real bacon, chips and bread that doesn’t taste sweet, but we can only enjoy all that for a week and then the diet has to start. It will be lovely to catch up with family and friends again too 👍

  2. Safe journey home. See you both soon.

(Another phrase, the Jamaican for bacon is “Beer Can” ….. “Can I have a beer can butty please” … 🤣🤣🤣🤣)

Yum yum a real beer can butty is on the cards this week as we couldn’t find a good one in any of the 19 states we visited! 😄

  3. Safe journey home .
Joyce and I will be “working “ together again this week 😉
Hope you get the chance to call and see me when you’re up north 😂 xx
