Puppy Girl

As Treacle was the youngest of our dogs she retained the moniker of “Puppy Girl” right until the end at over 14 years old, and devastating as it is to lose her she left behind so many priceless memories.

The first 12 years of her life were committed to pestering her older brother Tay our “Big Black Bear”. Typically for a Labrador, after we lost Tay she was very much interested in whether she could now have his food as well as her own.

In later life she suffered with her hind legs, particularly after an operation, but was more than happy to jump up and down her new dog ramp in and out of our campervan.

Having her accompany us on our Wrinkly Rambler travels was a delight, she met so many new people and dogs along the way and even started to think her name had changed to “Beautiful” as so many people stopped to talk to her.

Although we would love her to still be with us, it is a pet owners responsibility to know when a pet is starting to struggle and when it is the right time to let them go.

Beautiful, affectionate, cute and cuddly until the end, it was a delight to have Treacle as part of our family and she will be greatly missed and fondly remembered forever.

Oh my dear sweet Treacle, it has only been a week since we had to say goodbye and we miss you so very much, you were an absolute superstar.

From day one you melted our hearts and often made us laugh running rings around your brother, but bless him Tay took it all in his stride (his big lanky stride).

For fourteen and a half years you have brought us so much joy, love and affection and that affection came in bucket loads – never saying no to a snuggle and in fact in latter years woofing from downstairs demanding somebody (normally Dad) come and snuggle with you – you could almost set your watch for the 4pm woof.

We are so proud of how quickly you adapted to the travelling and of how much joy you brought to all the new people you met, right to the very end.

You will be fondly remembered by so many and we will never forget you our beautiful puppy girl.
