Happy Anniversary

Okay let’s start off with the most important news first – our 12 year old puppy dog ‘Treacle’ is making a good recovery after the unbelievable horror story of the last two months. This alone makes it one of the best Christmas and New Year presents we’ve ever had. She is bouncing around like a nutter again and is still the cutest and most tactile Labrador we’ve ever known (yes OK we’re biased but we love her to bits nevertheless).

Those of you who actually follow us will know that we are on a slow countdown to departure but rest assured that if Treacle is still with us by D-day, we will simply buy a camper van and start the UK leg of our tour with her onboard. We have forgone foreign holidays for the last 14 years due to our commitment to our dogs and we’re not about to start now, Treacle is an invaluable part of our family unit and will receive the respect and love she deserves.

Oh yes, back on topic… happy wedding anniversary darling! 21 years together and each one better than the ones before. Admittedly we didn’t marry straight away so it’s not a 21st wedding anniversary but it’s still another day for me to celebrate being part of something so much bigger than myself.

Clearly 2020 has been a challenging year on many fronts but we’ve had no choice but to battle through. We have lost friends and colleagues to Covid, been forced to change life plans and weathered stressful times with family and friends. The world is a very different place since last year and it may well take years of recovery before it resembles some kind of normality.

Although this post is starting to veer off course a little into a reflection of the trials and tribulations of the last year, a year that admittedly requires close scrutiny and soul searching by many, it is supposed to be a very public recognition and thank you to my amazing wife. Of course I am biased in my opinion but I genuinely believe that Nettie is unlike the majority of people I know. She insists on putting others needs and feelings before her own and I know she would be the first to agree she is ‘abnormal’.

Having said that, we’re both a little strange in a nice kind of way so maybe that is why we’re so suited to each other, soul mates even. It took a great deal of time and documented failures on both our parts to finally find that one special person that makes your life better, that one person who really understands who you are, loves you for it and wants to be part of your future.

I know I have the advantage here as I write the blog posts (sorry Nettie) but despite it being titled ‘Happy Anniversary’ and it being a celebration of our commitment to each other and our lives together – I am the one who gets to write about how much I truly love you and the joy and happiness you bring to all around you. Thank you for being you, never change and raise a glass to the next 21 years (if I make it that far).

  1. Happy Anniversary to my wonderful Husband.

Thank you so much for this lovely post and touching words. Although you have the advantage of being able to write the posts I do get the opportunity to reply 😉

I am so lucky to have you in my life, you make me whole. No matter what the situation you always make me smile, we truly are soul mates.

Even after 21 years together I still get the excitement and butterflies in my stomach when I think about all the wonderful memories we have made and I am very excited about the future adventures we have yet to come.

Thank you for being a wonderful husband, best friend and soul mate and thank you for loving me for who I am.

    All my love, Nettie xx

    P.S. Loving the picture 🙂

  2. Tom Carter

An absolute pleasure knowing you both and hoping that you have a wonderful anniversary with many more to come. Hoping that treacle stays well throughout. Love you both xx

Cheers mate, Happy New Year to you, Vicky and family. We’ll certainly all have to get together with Carlos for drinks before we depart.

  3. Happy Anniversary to you both. You’re genuinely one of the loveliest couples I have ever met and I really do value the friendship we all have.

I have no doubt that little Treacle will most definitely be keeping you both company for a significant period of time yet, you better get planning those UK tours!

I can assure you both by hook or by crook we will most certainly have multiple meetups between now and D-day. There will also be almighty drinkies on the penultimate session, Joshwarrr might even have something other than coke and I shall aim for more than 3 drinks. I like the game of pool where you drink on each shot😂😂😂

    Speak to you both soon,

    Carlos 👍💝

Thanks Carlos for the kind words. Don’t forget Carter & Co. in the drinks session and it would be great to see Coke-boy again. Maybe even meet your other half.

I almost forgot about our new pool rules LOL that was a fun night, looking forward to more of the same in the near future.
