Back on the Road

September started off with a flying visit back to Manchester to sort a few things out and restock for the next leg of our travels, we actually collected the rest of our clothes and travel items this time as we were unsure if we would have time to do so before the end of the year and we will need them for the Canary Island trip in January.

In the past month we have had trips to Liverpool and Morley and will be visiting Clotton, Sulgrave, Ellesmere Port and a planned trip to Chester Zoo before shooting off to North Wales next month but as always with Wrinkly Ramblers we will pop to local towns and villages along the way just to see what is going on, and maybe visit a pub or two.

On the technology front we have fitted a tracker to the campervan this month just so we know where it is when we park it up and leave it in January. Our trusted laptop is also showing signs of age and although perfectly capable of performing all the tasks we ask of it we may start looking at a replacement for the new year.

We are excited to have been able to pencil in some dates for family visits down south, Cornwall and London are on the cards for December. We’re looking forward to seeing all the Aunties, Uncles and extended family.

The USA trip is taking shape now, I will leave details until a later post, possibly in the new year. It’s very much a skeleton outline of locations with planned routes at the moment with no specific dates or durations for any particular place. Basically the plan is: start here – travel this direction – change direction – finish here. We may well find that we simply fill in the blanks when we are there.

We had a great August visiting friends old and new. Thanks to Abdus, Ant and Sid for a lovely Bank Holiday meal and to all the family we got to see. Uncle Ken, we will see you later this month, it’s always a pleasure to visit. A shout out to Mike for an interesting Loughborough visit and Martyn and Carlos for the American extravaganza. We are going to be very busy for the next few months so if we don’t get time to see everyone rest assured we will get around to it.

Until next time…

  1. Picking up the rest of our travel bags was very exciting even if it has made the campervan a little more cramped! Maybe it will give me the push I need to do the “clear out” of the campervan I keep talking about and never get around to! Who knew I’d be too busy in retirement to do the mundane things – not that I’m complaining 😉

Once again the weather was good to us in August which was very welcome especially when doing all that walking when Mike was over.

Very much looking forward to the December Cornwall and London visits to see my lovely Aunties and family 🙂
