When we set off on our travels over a year and a half ago our plans were completely different from those which we follow today. The main reason for this is our deep love of dogs and our overwhelming need of K9 cuddles wherever and whenever we can get them. Between our global travels we fill the weeks with dog sitting around the UK and we couldn’t be happier.
After our wonderful time with Shammy & Fran, two soft-coated Wheaten Terriers in Redhill, Surrey we headed to our most easterly dog sit so far to Norton, West Suffolk to sit for the most chilled out and relaxed yellow Labrador called Milo. Not only was Milo super relaxed but he was also a bit of a celebrity in the village and every day when out walking him someone would spot us and ask “Is that Milo?”
Between dog sits we usually save a few days to look around an area and in this case we managed to fit in a trip to Felixstowe, Suffolk. A day out to Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk to see the Greene King Brewery as we spent many a time in their pubs with Treacle, and a lovely day out in Hunstanton, Norfolk at the beach.
We have made some good friends whilst dog sitting and a regular and very rewarding sit back in Gaddesby, Leicestershire was next. Cute Ted and softy Wolfie are a pair of terriers we have sat for over half a dozen times now, always a pleasure to visit Gaddesby and the dogs are super cuddly. It’s always nice to get invitations to come back to sit for people, it means we must be doing things right.
A further two re-sits are around the corner in Somerset which is a bit of a trek south from home so on our journey down there we have called in to sit for our first Hungarian Vizsla in Grittleton, Wiltshire called Bruno, an old boy who loves to cuddle up on the sofa and sleep – it’s a tough job but someone’s got to do it.
We will enjoy the peaceful village life of Grittleton for a little longer and update you all next month.

You are so right, our life is very different from what we envisaged 18 months ago but so much fun and very very rewarding. Also being somewhere different almost every other week is very refreshing too.
We’ve been fortunate to stay in some beautiful parts of the country and visit some interesting places on the way, you’ve mentioned many already but also Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire was an interesting place to visit, as was Chesterfield, Derbyshire with its crooked spire, but a very windy day when we arrived so it was a quick bite to eat and then back on the road heading home.
It was great to be back home and catch up with some special friends and of course some of the family, maybe next time we’ll be home for longer and can catch up with the rest of the family. The problem for us is when we’re back home or abroad for more than a few days we’re soon missing doggies.
So after a week at home we were back on the road again heading south and on the way called in at Ludlow, Shropshire a bustling medieval market town with a lovely jovial man singing in the square, a pretty castle to visit, nice food, blue sky and sunshine – a lovely way to spend a few hours on a Friday October afternoon 😊

Did you guys travel on the A4117 near Ludlow? It has some absolutely stunning views on a clear day it really does.

Hi mate, we were heading down from the north west so basically the motorway out of there and then a lengthy A49, although to be fair the weather was very sunny all day so that helped make a long drive easier. We’ll definitely go back to explore Ludlow at some point on our travels.

Ahh thanks Auntie Ruth. It is really nice doing the return visits as it gives us the opportunity to get to know the doggie parents better, plus the doggies recognise us which is lovely 😍
Good to hear that the Airbnb is going well 👍👍
Take care, lots of love & hugs 😘 xx
